Nation must accept greenfield homes–Boles

England must accept home building on undeveloped land for the sake of the younger generation, planning minister Nick Boles said in a speech held at the Policy Exchange last month (January).<br> <br> Boles said that the prospect of home ownership – a "moral right" –was slipping away for many. He blamed the predicament on the failure of previous governments to release enough land for development and inflated house prices triggered by restricted home building.<br> <br> He indicated that brownfield reserves were wearing thin: "We are already building most homes on brownfield land, with 76% of homes built on brownfield in 2010. We can't squeeze much more out of these sites."<br> <br> On the affordability of homes Boles said: "We are inflicting misery on a generation of people who work hard and pay their taxes." He said that no-one wants to go down the route of ignoring "the young people forced to grow up in flats with no gardens, and pass by on the other side while working men and women in their twenties and thirties have to live with their parents or share bedrooms with friends." <br> <br> Boles announced that councils with neighbourhood plans in place would receive 25% …
