<p>The government has announced further details of the home information pack (HIPs) dry run to take place before implementation on June 1 2007. The dry run has started in 45 organisations in England and Wales, providing 2,500 packs on a voluntary basis. The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) will be rolling out voluntary HIPs in the regions during 2006 and 2007. <br><br>In October approved certification schemes for home inspectors should be operational and a testing process will be put in place to assess home inspectors. A website (www.homeinformationpacks.gov.uk) has also been created for the industry and consumers. The HBF has stressed the need for the dry run to be completely independent. External affairs director John Slaughter said: “The dry run shouldn’t be by those looking to benefit and there is no indication that the results will be published and assessed. “ Stewart Baseley, executive chairman of the HBF, said the government should be prepared to “drop”HIPs if the dry run is unsuccessful.
