Communities secretary Eric Pickles has approved CALA's long-running application for Barton Farm in Winchester. Barton Farm will provide around 2,000 new homes, 40% of which will be affordable housing.<br> <br> CALA had a lengthy court battle with Eric Pickles over his decision to revoke regional spatial strategies which affected the Barton Farm application. Pickles refused the scheme last year, but this year decided not to fight CALA's appeal. Robert Millar, CALA's group land director, said: "We welcome the appeal decision and now look forward to continuing to work positively with the council and local community to deliver a high quality development."
