Cable calls for government to appoint minister for building

Liberal Democrat shadow chancellor Vince Cable has called for the appointment of a minister for building to help companies by dealing specifically with the issues facing the industry. Visiting a scheme in Eastbourne by Ellis Developments, Cable also rounded on the banks for failing to support the building industry. “With so many of our banks in public ownership it is ludicrous that support for worthwhile building projects isn’t forthcoming,” he said. “Perhaps, the government should consider a minister for building who could focus on the massive challenges that their financial mismanagement has helped to create.” <br>
