<p>Futuristic, affordable Will Alsop-designed “holiday trophy homes” are in the pipeline as part of the next phase of the Lower Mill Estate development in Gloucestershire. The low carbon homes, priced from £500,000, are aimed at “taking architect-designed houses away from the elite and making collectible homes for everyone.”Howells Mere, the new 140-home phase of LME, follows the first two successful architectural ventures on the 450 acre site owned by Jeremy Paxton. </p> <p>The past 12 years have seen the development of flagship family homes, designed by a handful of prominent architects such as Zaha Hadid, along with terraced homes sites around the estate’s seven natural lakes. “It will appear as if it has completely grown out of nature,” said Paxton. “So many of the houses, rather than being set back from the water, will be right over the water. We want to shape it around the wildlife, so that residents will have otters as their neighbours and house martins nesting under their eaves. The whole place will be filled with bird song.” </p>
