This year marks 30 years since Forticrete – now a part of Ibstock Plc – launched Gemini, the game changing roof tile which has helped to transform the small form market.

Why Gemini stands apart

Since 1995, Forticrete Gemini has combined the timeless look of plain tiles with the latest modern engineering techniques to deliver a finished product that delivers efficiency, durability and timeless kerb appeal.

Designed to resemble two plain tiles side by side, its profile means roofs can be laid with just 16.23 tiles per m² – compared with over 60 for plain tile equivalents. The result? Faster installation and less timber but a finish that still captures the character of traditional roofing.

Distinctive design

Forticrete Gemini’s five-colour palette gives roofs a classic, non-uniform finish that works across traditional and contemporary designs, affording developers extensive freedom when it comes to design and specification.

Later this year, we’ll be giving developers even greater creative choice with the launch of a brand new colour palette, to be announced soon.

Sustainability and assurance built-in

Backed by EPD verification, Forticrete Gemini helps contractors and developers evidence embodied carbon savings, while our innovative Tile-and-half and three-quarter tile options also reduce waste and support more sustainable builds.

Designed to endure, Forticrete Gemini tiles are manufactured to meet BS EN 490 standards when tested to BS EN 491; a valuable kitemark of strength and long-term performance.

And the recognition doesn’t end there – since 2001, Forticrete Gemini has held the prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise: Innovation in recognition of the revolutionary impact it’s had on the roof tile market.

The next chapter

With 30 years of proven success, sustainable credentials, and exciting new developments ahead, Forticrete Gemini remains the smarter choice for specifiers, contractors, and developers.
