Simon Rawlinson

Simon Rawlinson heads the Arcadis multi-disciplinary Strategic Research and Insight team. His team is tasked with delivering evidence-based insight and Thought Leadership as an integral part of our design and consultancy service. In Arcadis, Simon has developed research for the residential sector focused on the development pipeline and more recently, the challenges associated with resourcing delivery of homes into the UK market. Simon also led the 2013 research project for BIS and the Construction Leadership Council examining the structure of Construction Supply Chains and the implications for the Construction Industry Strategy Simon has 20 years experience in construction and built environment research and innovation. Simon has been a member of the UK Government BIM Task Group since 2010, and has been involved in the development and implementation of the national BIM strategy. He previously chaired research committee of the British Council for Offices (BCO) and is a member of the CIC Executive Board responsible for research and innovation. Simon has recently taken a position on the Construction Leadership Council focused on communication and thought leadership. Prior to his career in specialist research, Simon practiced as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with multi-disciplinary consultants BDP. Simon has worked with many leading developer clients active in the commercial and residential sectors, including British Land, The Crown Estate, Derwent London, Great Portland Estates, Land Securities, Quintain and Stanhope. Simon also has extensive experience of working in the infrastructure sectors, working for Heathrow, Transport for London and many utilities companies. Simon is a well-known commentator in the construction industry, having worked with Building Magazine, Construction News and other publications for 20 years. His research interests include market forecasting, construction productivity and procurement.
