Paul has held various roles across NHBC and currently oversees the Standards department. Responsible for developing NHBC’s technical policy for warranty related issues and providing technical support, Paul’s team lead the delivery of NHBC Standards, the Technical Helpline and Technical Guidance documents. He is a keen advocate of working with the house-building industry, trade associations and other professional bodies to develop practical solutions to technical challenges. This approach helps to ensure that the Standards are up-to-date, reflect today’s construction methods and remain the cornerstone of good house-building practice.
Examples of changes to the Standards that Paul has overseen include Chapter 5.4 ‘Waterproofing of basements and other below ground structures’ and Chapter 8.3 ‘Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery’ - as well as the revision of Chapter 6.10 ‘Light steel framing’ and the wholesale redrafting of Standards 2016
