James Lidgate

Director of Housing, Legal & General, Capital

James Lidgate is Director of Housing with responsibility for Legal & General Capital's (LGC) residential investments and acquisitions. His role is to explore all opportunities to increase Legal & General's exposure to the UK's housing sector, principally in direct investment. With responsibility for the Group's land assets, investments in the Build to Rent sector and all residential development, James' mandate is to increase housing supply of all tenures across the UK.

James joined LGC from Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) in 2015, having previously spent almost two years as Head of Residential within the L&G Real Assets business. Prior to that he worked at Bellway Homes where he held the title of Land Director since 2010, being responsible for acquiring all land opportunities, helping to grow the North London division into the most profitable. Before this role he held various positions within the acquisitions team since 2004.

Prior to Bellway, he held the position of Land Buyer with St George after successfully completing the Berkeley Group graduate trainee programme, starting in August 2001 after a year spent with Laing Homes.

James graduated from the University of Durham in 2000 where he achieved a BSc (Hons) in Geography.
