Alex Lochead

Alex leads BEIS interest on the energy and carbon performance of new buildings – an essential part of government’s decarbonisation agenda and strategy for clean growth.

His work aims to make sure every new home is future-proofed with low carbon heating and world leading levels of energy efficiency, to create healthy homes that are fit for the future, have low energy bills, and are better for the environment.

As a Civil Servant, Alex’s career has spanned diverse areas such as consumer rights, artificial intelligence, national security and overseas investment, and welfare reform. He previously led work to reduce the time, cost and stress involved in buying or selling a home.

Alex has a background in economics and holds an MSc from the University of York
