Youthbuild UK’s Building Pathways into Construction event – June 15

<p>Youthbuild UK is holding its annual <a href="https://ybuk.org/awards-events/building-pathways">Building Pathways into Construction Best Practice event</a> on June 15, which aims to discuss how best to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds entering the construction industry.</p><p><span>The event, which will be held at NHBC’s offices in London, will seek to empower marginalised young people to take up a career in the industry, exchanging and promoting effective strategies to achieve this. The programme, running from the afternoon, will be opened by Ian Davis, chair of Youthbuild UK.</span></p><p></p><p><span>Speakers comprise Darryl Stewart, NHBC’s </span><span>head of commercial services, who will offer a skills and training update, Ed </span><span>Sellwood</span><span>, chief operating officer at Volunteer it Yourself (ViY), </span><span>Sam Downton<b>,</b></span><span> director of The Skills Centre and </span><span>Christian Hatherall-Good<b>, </b></span><span>training manager at Lee Marley Brickwork.</span></p><p></p><p><span>Youthbuild UK has been championing disadvantaged young people for more than 20 years, working with employers and organisations in the construction sector to share best practice. It also strives to provide support for young people throughout their training and employment journey.</span></p><p><span>It also holds its Young Builder of the Year Awards, celebrating the achievements of young people who have overcome a range of challenges to succeed in training for and gaining employment in the construction industry.</span></p><p><span>Last year’s …
