The Holt Town Waterfront in New East Manchester is to be the site of the “world’s first ‘uburb,” which will “combine the convenience and buzz of the city centre with the amenities and space of the suburbs.” EDAW is leading on the masterplanning for the 34ha site, with a team of consultants appointed by Citibas Investments, New East Manchester and Manchester city council. The 15-year plan for the site will be aimed at “families and familyforming households.” NEM chief executive Tom Russell said: “This provides an opportunity to create a community in which families will want to plant long term roots.” <br>
