Wilson wades in to regenerate steeltown

<b></b> David Wilson Homes is at the heart of ambitious plans to carry out one of the biggest regeneration schemes undertaken in Europe at the Ravenscraig steelworks in Scotland. <br>DWH's development arm, Wilson Bowden Developments, is part of a partnership which has unveiled plans to build an £800 million scheme on the site including 3500 new homes for up to 10,000 residents. The Ravenscraig Partnership - which also includes Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire and site owner Corus - has submitted a planning application to build the new homes plus a 116,000 sqm industrial park, a 100,000 sq m business campus and an hotel. <p></p><p>DWH chief executive Mike Stansfield says that the company set up a Scottish operation in advance of the Ravenscraig deal coming through. &amp;"We were chosen because of the structure of our company - we have the housing and development portfolio and so we can deliver everything required at Ravenscraig.</p><p>&amp;"Also our development company has carried out a number of contracts in Scotland and has a good reputation.&amp;" </p><p>The 450 hectare site has already been cleaned up at a cost of £30 million, and new road improvements and improved public transport are planned. </p><p>Wilson Bowden will now develop the housing …
