What&’s the big hurry?

<b></b><p></p><p>I&amp;’m no planning expert, thank the Lord. So forgive me if I don&amp;’t delve into the detail of Local Development Frameworks and the demise of RPGs. I will leave that to those who have worked with the system for some years and understand its strengths and weaknesses. </p><p>But I do have one question about the Green Paper: why is the government in such a big rush to push through these reforms? </p><p>Change is clearly needed. And housebuilders seem to be going out of their way to be as positive as possible about the reforms, having complained for some years about the plan-led system. This positive attitude is wise when dealing with this government, and is an attitude that Lord Falconer and his team has begun to appreciate.</p><p>But in return, wouldn&amp;’t it be reasonable for the government to have given the industry a little more time to digest the seemingly complex new ideas before responding? March 18 is not long away, and fully analysing the impact of the changes is a tricky business. </p><p>Now we know what the government meant when it said this would be a &amp;“Green Paper that is white around the edges&amp;”.</p><p><b><b>New look</b></b><br> Housebuilder magazine has a whole …
