Welsh Assembly plans South East Wales' future

The Welsh Assembly’s plans for the future development of South East Wales will begin to be put into action today. A workshop held in Cardiff will discuss how best to proceed in implementing the Wales Spatial Plan, People, Places, Futures. The project is designed to counter poverty by building sustainable communities and promoting a sustainable economy as well as developing better links between the valleys and the coastal belt. The Welsh minister for finance, local government and public services, Sue Essex, said: “People, Places, Futures recognises the need to go beyond ‘one size fits all’ solution in planning for the future of Wales. The plan reflects the Welsh Assembly’s desire to prepare for the future based on the key principles of social justice, equality and sustainability.”
