Wain Group reports strong financial performance

<p><span>Wain Group has announced a “strong end of year performance,” with its housebuilding arm Wain Homes seeing pre-tax profit rise to £43.9 million in 2021 against £32.6 million during the comparable period the previous year.</span></p> <p><span>During the 12 months to 3 October 2021, Wain Homes, which builds in the North West, the South West and the Severn Valley with new operations in the West Midlands, produced revenue of £268.5 million compared to £250.8 million in the 15 month period ending September 27 2020 (due to an accountancy adjustment). This was driven by completions of 1,105 homes against the 1,126 of the longer period in 2020.</span></p> <p><span>Wain said the housebuilder’s revenue growth reflected an improved average selling price driven by a continued imbalance in supply and demand “as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic”. Sales price increases also continued to mitigate costs of delays and labour shortages, also generating an improved gross margin of 25.5% (2020: 23.6%) and operating margin of 16.6% (2020: 13.7%).</span></p> <p><span>Wain Homes is aiming to increase its new homes delivery to 1,800 by 2026.</span></p> <p><span>With the input of Wain Estates, the group’s land and property developer, group revenue for the year grew to £276.6 million from 2020’s …
