Vertical sprawl in 2030

<p>ODOS Architects’ submission to this year’s Venice architecture biennale tells the tale of what happens when suburban sprawl hits its limit. “Vertical sprawl is a provocative statement intended to arouse interest in how we live,”explained David O’Shea, a partner at the Dublin-based practice, whose design team included Darrell O’Donoghue and Bren B. “It examines what the repercussions could be, should we fail to address the consequences of nations’obsession with the car and land ownership – the traditional driving forces behind the epidemic<br>of horizontal sprawl. If not, we may be faced with such a scenario, a fantastical vision of how Irish towns and cities may be forced to develop post 2030.”</p> <p><strong>The theme of this year’s biennale, which runs until November 19, is cities, architecture and society.
