OFT new homebuild consumer survey <br><br>On June 10, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) published the findings of its new homebuild consumer survey, which quizzed a sample of 1,000 UK new home buyers on their experiences of buying and living in their new build home. The survey forms part of the OFT’s study into the housebuilding industry, expected to be concluded by the autumn. The findings revealed that 90% of respondents found the construction of their home to be good, with 81% being satisfied with the quality of finish. The survey also showed that 92% of participants thought they had some level of consumer protection, and 91% were aware of having a warranty. Most buyers (60%) would recommend their builder and 80% said they would buy a new home again. Almost three quarters of the respondents would use the same housebuilder, according to the study. But satisfaction with after sales service was lower at 75%, than during the buying process where 89% of the sample were satisfied.<br><br>HBF stated that poor construction was the primary reason why new home owners would not buy from the same homebuilder again, with 88% of those respondents who had found construction to be inadequate not …
