<b><b>Heating and hot water systems have been thrust into the limelight by the requirement to boost their efficiency. Only with an efficient system will you stand much chance of hitting new thermal requirements in new homes. Tim Palmer reports</b></b><br><b><b></b> The demand for mains pressure hot water and the removal of loft tanks has forced a major rethink that is now changing forever the shape of UK domestic heating and hot water systems. Major developers are moving away from conventional boiler/cylinders to tap/radiator domestic systems that take up the mains pressure offering which is more energy efficient and delivers the high flow rates and high pressure demanded by most family homes. </b><br><b>Even modest new homes now feature a bathroom, en-suite and a cloakroom putting more pressure on the domestic hot water system. Householders are no longer satisfied with traditional boiler arrangements; anyone creating domestic hot water and heating systems has specific requirements to meet: virtually unlimited hot water whenever needed; rapid warm-up of the central heating system; showers delivering genuine power - and obviously cost-effective running.
