<b>The Walrus breaks away from digging an escape tunnel at his office to explain why, where he works, &amp;“doing nothing is not an option&amp;”</b><br><b>It is perhaps too easy to be cynical about another management team &amp;“away-day&amp;”. And as this particular one came with a properly-sanctioned, three-line whip from our HR director, spirits were definitely sagging amongst the rag-tag collection of middle-ranked, office-based staff that have tried to function as an escape committee at our firm over the past year or so. </b><br><b>Years of conflict have been beginning to take their toll in our office, prompting the creation of a crack team to formulate a plan to get us out and away over the horizon. But as the winter nights draw in and no-one manages to break free, the long, creased faces in our office betray our mood. So strong is the collective need to hear some good news back from the outside world that you can almost feel it.</b><br>The most depressing episode had seen a bright, young engineer make a daring, almost Steve McQueen-like bid for liberty, just after Interbuild. He had papers, transport, enough money to get him as far as the southern Home Counties and just about every …
