<b><b>Pete, the Walrus&amp;’s mate in the drawing office, says that Part M is an evil masterplan to allow the Daleks to achieve world domination. He may have a point </b></b><br><b>Two particular traits that prevent Pete in our drawing office from leading a near normal, active life are (1) Doctor Who; and (2) his self-appointed status as the world&amp;’s leading conspiracy theorist. </b><br> Normally, Pete ploughs a long and lonely furrow, some three or four fields distant from the rest of us. Yet recently, like the mad, bearded scientist in a Spielberg film to whom nobody pays any heed until nearly too late, Pete has suddenly started making sense. I am talking about Part M - that part of the Building Regs which calls for homes to be accessible for all.<p></p><p>Two years down the road, we have completed a number of Part M-compliant developments. There is now a liberal sprinkling of such estates, up and down the country, and the proportion of &amp;“visitable&amp;” new homes is on a steady upward curve. Note here the use of the term &amp;“visitable&amp;”. These are definitely not &amp;“disabled&amp;” or &amp;“wheelchair&amp;” homes - it says so in the preamble to Part M. So who are they …
