<b><b>Clive Budge, secretary of Interpave, the precast concrete paving and kerb association, argues that people want block paving drives and a new survey proves it</b></b><br><b>Housebuilders certainly know a thing or two about kerb appeal. They also know that nothing does more to achieve it than a good-looking block-paved drive. However, what they may not be aware of are the results of a recent MORI poll carried out on behalf of Interpave and entitled Paving Research Amongst the General Public. </b><br><b><b>Preferred surface</b></b><br> A nationally representative sample of British adults was asked to state a preference between photographs of two houses which were identical in all respects except for the driveway: one was block paved, the other had black tarmac. Both had identical lighting conditions. The study revealed that 81% preferred the property with the block-paved drive. Only 10% preferred the property with the tarmac drive, 7% did not express a preference and 2% did not comment.<p></p><p>Taking the survey a step further, the same people were asked whether they would be prepared to pay anything extra to secure the house of their choice.
