Terrapin’s offsite system has health benefits too

Offsite construction company Terrapin received a clean bill of health for the work it carried out on a major extension at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. <br> <br> The new pre-operative assessment centre and day care facility had to be completed within 17 weeks in order to avoid disrupting the hospital’s planned theatre programme. <br> <br> Terrapin supplied its Unitrex offsite building system in a single storey shell format, with contractor Arthur M Griffiths &amp; Son carrying out the internal fit out and mechanical and electrical installations. <br> <br> The Unitrex system was able to create the large clear-span rooms required on the new day care ward, by eliminating the need for internal supporting columns. It does this by allowing two or more modules to be supported on “goalpost” beams, with multispan units.<br> <br>
