Taylor Wimpey’s completions down but demand up

<p><span>Taylor Wimpey’s completions have slumped almost 40% year-on-year due to the UK lockdown, but with the business also reporting a “strong level of interest” in its homes.</span></p> <p><span>During the 22 weeks to May 31 2020, the volume housebuilder’s completions totalled 2,455 against the 4,052 achieved over the equivalent period last year, “reflecting the impact of site closures”.</span></p> <p><span>The firm said that forward indicators had improved since reopening its sales offices in England, with the business experiencing a threefold increase in appointment bookings in the week to May 31 and a 32% lift in website traffic against the same time last year. It noted seeing a “good level of interest” in its 5% discount scheme for NHS and care workers. </span></p> <p><span>Taylor Wimpey’s sales centres are operating by appointment only and with social distancing protocols in place.</span></p> <p><span>The company also stated it was on course to reach “meaningful” production capacity from the end of June. It praised its workers for adapting to its new working practices and showing “strong support” for its Covid-19 Code of Conduct.
