<p><span>Taylor Wimpey has announced a “Taylor Wimpey Pay It Forward Scheme” to help support self-employed </span><span>subcontractors</span><span> during the coronavirus pandemic.</span></p> <p><span>The volume housebuilder explained that its new scheme, to be launched at the end of this week, would make advance payments for future work done by subcontractors “where we have a long term relationship”. Payments of up to £600 a month over a three month period will come via the subcontractor to self-employed individuals who cannot access the government’s self-employment income support scheme “or who will experience significant hardship before that scheme starts to make payments”.</span></p> <p><span>To be eligible, individuals must work for subcontractor firms Taylor Wimpey has approved. Payment will be recovered against future work </span><span>undertaken</span><span> for the firm with no interest charged.</span></p> <p><span>The business has capped its new scheme at £5 million to support around 2,750 people.
