SWOT reveals a range of threats –but great opportunity too

This month we publish Housebuilder’s SWOT analysis of the housing market, bringing together the views of a variety of industry experts on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing the industry this Autumn. <br> <br> The analysis follows our successful first SWOT last September, which was much admired and caught the mood of the industry as it battled out of recession. It seemed appropriate to make the analysis an annual exercise ahead of the Autumn market, and you will find the results, plus the comments on the market from our 18 experts, on pages 18 to 31. <br> <br> What is fascinating in this second year is that not only do we have the views of our panellists, but we have the comparison with last year. And that tells a story. In only one of the four categories did the top factor from last year hold its position – and that was Strengths where “Growth potential” remains in the lead. But last year’s second placed Strength was “Growing confidence that the worst is over”.
