Sustainable construction for affordable housing

A £3.3million project to showcase how sustainability and new construction technologies can be incorporated into affordable housing will feature homes kitted out with high-performance domestic voltage optimisation units from Marshall-Tufflex.<br> <br> Housing Innovation Showcase 2012, a partnership between Kingdom Housing Association &amp; Fife Council, features 27 new homes on a site in Dunfermline, Scotland, each built by one of ten development partners. Glenrothes-based Lomond Homes has been tasked with building a pair of semi-detached homes for the project, and it is these that are being fitted with the Voltis Home domestic voltage optimiser from Marshall-Tufflex. The units were supplied by Edmundson Electrical, Kirkcaldy.<br> <br> The Voltis Home units, which measure just 300mm x 240mm x 147mm, have each taken about one hour to install and, because Voltis Home is rated to 60Amps there is no need to isolate circuits such as the cooker or power showers, making installation simple. Savings of up to 17% are achievable.<br> <br> Housing Innovation Showcase 2012 runs from May 15-31.
