Sustainable communities plan comes under further attack

The government’s sustainable communities plan has once again come under attack for sacrificing quality for quantity. The head of the London Housing Federation, which represents the capital’s housing associations, Berwyn Kinsey said in a letter to the London Housing Board: “The danger is that in its bid to win the numbers game and make headlines the government is jeopardising housing associations’ capacity to build the new homes London so urgently needs.” Kinsey continues: “A cost-drive approach will impair our efforts to increase the number of family-sized homes, and improve provision for black and minority ethnic communities and those who require specialist accommodation.” Guardian
