Sustainability a major factor in home moving decisions – HBF

<p><span>Sustainability is now a key driver in people’s home buying choices, according to research carried out by the Home Builders Federation to mark <a href="https://new-homes.co.uk/new-homes-week/?pk_campaign=newsletter_5277">New Homes Week 2022.</a></span></p><p> </p><p><span>HBF’s survey reveals that 73% of around 2,000 respondents are worried about the energy performance of their current home. Twenty four percent state that energy efficiency will be “crucial” to their next home move.</span></p> <p><span>The requirements of “eco-friendly” and “having a good Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)” were rated as the second and third most important for the survey participants, behind “private outdoor space”. HBF conducted the survey to test sentiment among the British public towards more sustainable living, in the context of the recent energy crisis and growing general awareness of people’s individual carbon footprints.</span></p> <p><span>It said the results placed UK housebuilders “at the forefront of meeting public demand for more energy efficient living and show that when it comes to selecting a new home, sustainability is now a firm fixture at the top of our criteria”. </span></p> <p><span>Another element of the research demonstrates the industry’s role in unlocking the UK electric car industry, HBF said, with </span>71% of participants stating they would be more inclined to buy an electric car if …
