Starts down in 2012

Figures for new housing starts in 2012 continue to suggest that they will fall short of the levels reached in 2011.<br> <br> NHBC says that there were 28,151 UK new home registrations in the third quarter of this year, a 6% fall on the same period in 2011. Within that figure, private reservations were 7% down and social housing 5% down. However the overall number represents a 9% increase on the previous quarter.<br> <br> And the Construction Product Association’s Construction Industry Forecasts predict that total housing starts in Great Britain will reach only 118,000 in 2012, compared to 129,370 in 2011. Private starts are forecast at 98,400, a 3% drop from 2011.
