Self builder market still buoyant, claims Target Timber Systems

While property developers continue to struggle for funding, the self-builder is quietly building away, claims timber frame building manufacturer Target Timber Systems.<br> <br> Target Timber Systems has predominantly supplied timber frame structures to housebuilders and property developers. Like all suppliers, it has seen a slowdown in activity mainly down to banks' unwillingness to lend.<br> <br> Nowadays, self builders are "self managers," Target Timber explains, employing their own architect and sub-contractors.<br> <br> The family homes that self builders deliver range from homes such as this five-bed open plan barn style unit in Billingshurst, West Sussex (pictured), to an eightbedroom Georgian mansion in Virginia Water, Surrey with an estimated market value in excess of £5,000,000.<br> <br> Target Timber's joint md Nick Whittle says: "As well as supplying and erecting the above two properties, Target will have around five 'self-managed' projects in manufacture at any one time".<br> <br> www.targettimber.com
