Robust Details launches in Scotland

Housebuilders in Scotland will be able to use Robust Details to meet sound insulation standards in new flats and houses from this month.<br> <br> The move follows negotiations between the Scottish government, RDL and others over ensuring that sound insulation in new dwellings in Scotland meets the requirements of the new Section 5 of the Building Standards.<br> <br> A separate Robust Details Handbook has been written for Scotland, reflecting the different and generally higher technical standards in Section 5 compared to Part E in England and Wales, but otherwise the scheme is essentially similar to the existing Part E Robust Details with which housebuilders are familiar. Just as for other parts of the UK, housebuilders registering plots with Robust Details in Scotland will not have to commission or carry out pre-completion testing (PCT).<br> <br> Robust Details originated in 2002 and more than 500,000 new dwellings in England and Wales have been registered, driving the sound insulation performance of new build homes to an all time high.<br> <br>
