Report reveals regulation inconsistencies

report has revealed that there are “gaps and inconsistencies” in the structure of regulation and redress within the housing market. The report, written by Professor Colin Jones at the School of the Built Environment, Heriot- Watt University, assesses the scale and scope of regulation for estate agents, HIP providers and private research companies to determine whether any gaps or imbalances work against the customer. The research made recommendations for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of regulation and redress across the property sector. “This is a step towards more consistent regulation for letting agents and estate agents,” commented John Slaughter, HBF’s director of external affairs. <br>
