The Housing Design Awards are being relaunched this year with a stronger focus on the role of local approval authorities. Elected members of planning committees will be invited to see the fruits of their deliberations. Chair of judges Graham Pye said: “Architects and developers have made real progress with the quality of their applications in recent years but planning committees get little recognition, and we aim to recognise the part they play in good design.” <p></p><p>The awards are promoted by ODPM with NHBC, RIBA and the RTPI.
