Q3 registrations grow 33% but “slowdown ahead” – NHBC

<p><span>New home registrations grew 33% in the third quarter of 2022 year-on-year according to the latest NHBC data, but with the organisation warning of a “slowdown ahead”. </span></p> <p><span>During Q3, a total of 44,729 new homes were registered to be built in the UK, the highest number of Q3 registrations since 2007, new homes warranty and insurance provider NHBC said.</span></p> <p><span>Of these, 32,702 registrations were for private sale homes, up 26% on Q3 2021. Those for the affordable and Build to Rent sectors increased 55% to 12,027.</span></p> <p><span>But NHBC pointed to expectations of sales slowing “in the coming period” because of increased mortgage rates and falling consumer confidence.</span></p> <p><span>The Q3 figures also showed that registrations rose for every house type. After a pandemic swing to detached homes, apartments saw a 114% increase in registrations against Q3 2021 to 9,006. During the period, 45% of all new registrations for flats were in London.
