Redrow’s profits during 2005/06 were hit by tougher market conditions, falling by 13% to £120.5 million according to its preliminary results for the year to June 30. But the group has boosted its dividend per share by 20% and increased its landbank, putting it in a “strong position for growth.” Chief executive Neil Fitzsimmons said: “Most housebuilders’ results this season have showed a reduction on margins. But we have seen profits up in the second half. Our Homes operations performed solidly, with turnover up 12% and operating profit up 2%. We’re delighted by the progress we’re making with the Debut affordable housing range. We plan to complete 500 homes in 2006/07 and our target is 10,000 by 2010.”

For daily news on housebuilders’ performance throughout the results season go to http://www.housebuilder.co.uk/
