Redrow looks forward to “reset” gov relationship

<p>Redrow is “looking forward to the resetting of the industry’s relationship” with government, Matthew Pratt, Redrow’s group ceo, said today (September 14).</p> <p>Reporting on the housebuilder’s full results for the 53 weeks to July 3 2022, Pratt noted it was “early days” with the appointment of the new prime minister Liz Truss, but Redrow was considering her “historic comment” on housing, also during the <span>leadership</span> contest. </p><p>Redrow was also looking towards new housing secretary Simon Clarke for renewed conversations on housebuilding, Pratt said.</p> <p>Pratt also stated that resolving planning backlogs would be a “huge boost to the economy", creating revenue.</p> <p>He pointed out the need for more planning officers, highlighting that “we are getting planning permissions – it’s just taking an inordinate amount of time”, with stretched planning offices accommodating “a lot of building works at the moment”. During its financial year, Redrow’s active outlets decreased to 111 from 2021’s 117, partly due to “the time required to obtain implementable planning permissions”. </p> <p>Pratt explained that Redrow’s “medium term plan” in response to a recently “moderated” market - as referred to in its results – involved “what we need to do to address the current situation and prepare for change …
