Redrow introduces heat pumps as standard

<p>Redrow has announced that from this month, detached homes on all its new schemes will feature heat pumps as it moves away from “traditional gas boilers”. </p> <p>Ahead of the Future Homes Standard, which from 2025 will dictate that all new properties cannot be gas-heated, the housebuilder will introduce air source heat pump technology across its developments <span>nationwide</span>. This, it said, would have “the biggest impact to date” on its homes’ energy efficiency as it heads towards “an-all electric” offer in its plan to achieve net zero carbon by 2050.</p> <p>Redrow’s move comes as it reveals research which it says demonstrates an increase in home owner demand for energy efficient features in properties. According to the research, 74% of UK adults state that living in a green home is more important to them now than a year ago.</p> <p>“With leading fabric efficiencies", Redrow said it was now looking to air source heat pumps to further boost the efficiency of its homes. The pumps are used with ground floor underfloor heating in Redrow’s homes “to complement its open-plan layouts”.
