Raising the roof on Edinburgh's latest apartment blocks

James Jones and Sons Timber Systems is currently supplying JJI-Joists via distributor Pasquill, to the latest phase of a major apartment development in Edinburgh by housebuilder Miller Homes.<br> <br> Situated between the city centre and the waterfront, this is a prime location for new homes and the completed development will comprise five blocks of 209 new build apartments with a converted B-listed building at its heart.<br> <br> Valued at £40,000, the JJI-Joist roof scheme is for the current phase of four blocks.<br> <br> James Jones' business development manager Mark Tilston says: "The building design incorporated large, flat roofs, with 'firing pieces' to create a sloped, 'gull-wing' effect."<br> <br> "The spans involved were quite significant, up to 9m in places, and this project showcases the span capability and the design flexibility of the JJI-Joist".<br> <br> JJI-Joists are UK manufactured and FSC certified.<br> <br> www.jamesjones.co.uk
