Private sector registrations up 9% in Q3 2025 – NHBC

UK private sector registrations rose 9% in the third quarter of 2025 against Q3 2024 according to the latest NHBC statistics, with total registrations up for a third consecutive quarter although growth was still “subdued”.

Registrations for new homes in the private sector totalled 20,996 in Q3 2025. There was also an increase in registrations for rental and affordable homes in the same period, up 6% against the equivalent period last year to 9,647 homes.

This meant total Q3 registrations rose 8% to 30,643 new homes. NHBC said this was the third consecutive quarter improvement – a 1% uplift on Q2 2025 and 5% more than Q1 2025.

But new home completions were down 6% during Q3 2025 against Q3 2024, at 26,427 new homes.

Seven out of the 12 UK regions experienced a rise in registrations in Q3 year-on-year. The Eastern region, North West and Merseyside and West Midlands saw the largest increases at +46%, +34% and +30% respectively.

The biggest decline in registrations was recorded in Northern Ireland at -39%, with Yorkshire and Humberside seeing a 23% decline and Wales’ registrations falling 18%. London’s registrations were also down, at -6%.
