Prime minister backs new home building

Britain must accept that more homes need to be built for the sake of the young generation, the prime minister David Cameron has told his party's conference.<br> <br> He said that the Conservative party was the "party of home ownership" and could not let "nimbyism" continue.<br> <br> He said: "There are those who say 'yes of course we need more housing,' but 'no' to every development and not in my back yard. It's ok for my generation. Many of us have got on the ladder. But you know the average age that someone buys their first home today, without any help from their parents? 33 years old." <br> <br> Cameron commented that many hard working young people still lived at home. "They sit in their childhood bedroom, dreaming of a place of their own."<br> <br> "I want us to say to them – you are our people, we are on your side, and we will help you reach your dreams."
