Prescott’s £60,000 homes initiative progresses

The deputy prime minister’s plan to facilitate the building of shared-ownership homes for £60,000 to tackle the growing wealth divide between home owners and those unable to step onto the ladder is continuing to move forward. John Prescott and the ODPM have held talks with the Council of Mortgage Lenders to discuss the plan, which will involve the use of government-owned land, which will not be sold as part of the deal. Surplus NHS sites have already been transferred to English Partnership as potential development land.
