<b>The following are a few of the Housing Forum demonstrators employing off-site fabrication - wide ranging examples are also featured in the April 2001 Housing Forum Demonstration Project Report. </b><p></p><p><b><b>Steel</b></b><br><b>Modular housing project</b></p><p> Britspace MBS is working with Wimpey Homes and the Guinness Trust for the development of 44 steel frame modular houses in Chelmsford, Essex. The modularised pods with internal and external finishes (walls and ceiling, external cladding using 12mm brick slips, sanitary and kitchen fittings, skirtings, windows/doors) are delivered on site 95% complete and craned into position and bolted together. Following the connection of services the house is ready for occupation and looks no different from a traditional dwelling. </p><p><b><b>Timber</b></b><br><b>Amphion consortium </b></p><p> Beazer (recently acquired by Persimmon) is contracting with Over 20 Housing for the first yearÕs supply of 450 units from its new 40,000 sq ft Torwood factory at Ipswich Docks. The units are constructed using the Tee-U-Tec system using storey-height timber panels. External walls have the structural sheathing member &amp;"reversed' to the inside of the panel and are &amp;"closed&amp;" on the external side with a moisture resistant board. Cassettes use I-beams to achieve standard clear spans up to 5.5m eliminating the need for internal loadbearing walls. </p><p><b><b>Concrete</b></b><br><b>Quickhome, …
