£110,000 raised at Brain Game charity quiz

Housebuilder and Marie Curie’s annual Brain Game held on May 1, raised £110,000 for the cancer care charity, as the industry mingled with celebrities on the glamorous night at the Chiswell Street Brewery in London. Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hardy and the BBC’s Bill Turnbull joined in the fun of the quiz, as well as Esther Rantzen, Tony Christie, David Gower, Jonny Gould and John Altman.<br><br>Top auction prize – a round of golf for eight at the K Club in Ireland including a private jet and chauffer with lunch included in the club house – went for £6,000. Top bids included a Strictly Come Dancing experience with Karen Hardy for £3,500, and a seven-day cruise on The World luxury cruise liner for £4,500. Dawn Dyne, Marie Curie’s nurse of the year, gave a moving address to attendees on the charity’s important work caring for cancer patients in their homes. The event, attended by 450 industry figures, was deemed a great success with much fun had by all, and a substantial amount of money raised for the charity. <br>
