Positive results season for industry

Major housebuilders have continued to report good progress to the City. <br> <br> Barratt announced a boost in operating profit to £90.1 million in the year ending June 2010, against £34.2 million last year. Meanwhile, Galliford Try’s operational profits were up 56% to £17.6 million in the year to June. <br> <br> Redrow returned to a modest pre-tax profit of £700,000 for the financial year ending 30 June 2010, after last year’s loss of £44.2 million. <br> <br> Miller Group made a pre-tax loss of £26.9 million in the first half of 2010, but the figure was a £6.9 million improvement on the figure achieved last year, the firm said. <br> <br> Miller has also won the management contract for nine former Thomas Mitchell Homes sites with a residential value of £120 million. <br> <br> And Galliford Try has progressed its regional business expansion plan, opening a new Oxfordshire office under its Linden branding. “By the end of June 2011, Galliford will have established a Linden Guildford office, as well as offices in Caterham and Wakefield,” GT’s group md for housebuilding Ian Baker told Housebuilder.<br> <br>
