Off-site manufacturers geared up for housing demand

The off-site manufacturing (OSM) industry is well geared up to meet growing demand for prefabricated housing components according a Housing Forum report on the sector. The Manufacturing Excellence study, estimates that there is scope for producers to meet demand for 30,000 units this year, up from 17,000 in 2003 if demand is fuelled by growing market confidence. “An increasing number of organisations are ready and willing to respond to the real challenges that off-site manufacture represents,” said Housing Forum Modern Methods Group chair Simon Dow.
