NPPF helps CALA's ambitious growth plans

<p> </p> <p>CALA plans to increase the size of its business by two and a half times in the next four years with the aim of delivering 1,400 units per annum by June 2017.</p> <p>In a trading update today, the firm detailed its growth plans while announcing the launch of two new regional divisions, the North Home Counties and the South Homes Counties.</p> <p>"We are the UK's major upmarket builder operating in the high value market," said CALA ceo Alan Brown. "So the best place for us to grow is in the more affluent areas of England and they are around London."</p> <p>Brown said that the effect of the National Planning Policy Framework was starting to filter through positively, with "responsible councils" introducing five year housing plans and encouraging development on preferred sites. It is also becoming easier to buy more land in these areas.</p> <p>"Our new investors (Patron Capital and L &amp; G) are injecting more equity to allow us to advance our growth plans and the starting position for that is acquiring land," said Brown.
