Nine out of ten young people want to own a home

<p>89% of 18-34 year olds who do not already own a property wish that they did, according to a new survey from the property website new-homes which relaunches today. 74% of people think its harder to buy a home now than five years ago, while 57% of 25-34 year olds who plan to buy a property are frustrated by the market, according to the YouGov poll.</p> <p>David Bryant, chair of the New Homes Marketing Board which runs the new-homes portal in jv with Smart New Homes, said: "These figures show that although young people want to own their own homes, it is becoming much more difficult. Supply is vital to increasing both affordability and stability in the market. In the short term we must find a way of addressing the lack of mortgage finance. Over the long term we need a planning system that delivers enough land for the homes our country needs."</p> <p> </p>
