NHBC registrations drop

NHBC has urged government to keep housebuilding "high on the agenda" as its latest registration figures show a year-end drop.<br> <br> NHBC new home registrations in the UK totalled 115,020 at the end of 2011, a dip on 2010's total figure of 115,458. Both figures are significantly below the 2007 pre-recession high of 200,700.<br> <br> New home registrations were "relatively stable" for the first half of 2011, but fell during Q4 to 21,152 against 27,262 in Q4 2010.<br> <br> NHBC's chief executive Imtiaz Farookhi said: "The question for 2012 will be whether the government's measures will be enough to actually achieve volume growth or only serve to stabilise the market. Either way, it is critical that housing remains high on the government’s agenda this year."<br> <br>
