NHBC Foundation launches Future Homes Standard guidance

<p><span class="normaltextrun"><span>The NHBC Foundation has published a new report on how to realise the “full potential” of the Future Homes Standard while addressing its challenges.</span></span></p> <p><i>Future Homes - Avoiding unintended consequences </i><span>includes advice and guidance to housebuilders on how to overcome the hurdles that could arise from deploying energy saving measures in new homes. </span></p><p><span>NHBC said there was now the technology alongside the construction capability to futureproof new build homes with low carbon heating and “world leading” levels of energy efficiency in adherence to the Future Homes Standard, by 2025. But gaps still remained in the industry’s knowledge, skills and practices to reliably deliver the homes at volume.</span></p> <p><span>The publication covers three themes: heating, ventilation and design considerations. Within these, the organisation explores home owner-related issues including comfort, usability and climate change resilience.</span></p> <p><span class="normaltextrun"><span>Richard Smith, NHBC’s head of standards, innovation and research, said:</span> “The Future Homes Standard will set the UK in the forefront of global ambitions to achieve net zero homes.
